A memo signed by Agriculture PS Francis Owino stated that the Ministry of agriculture shall subsidize the price of maize flour being produced and sold by millers for a period of four weeks.
Following the directive, the prize of 2kg Maize flour will retail at Ksh 100 from Ksh 230.
Kenyans have been experiencing high cost of living with other commodities whose prices have increased being bread, milk, tissues paper, sugar and cooking oil.
Reasons cited for high cost of living all over the world include war in Ukraine and high fuel prices.
