Raila now ahead of Ruto in recent Tifa poll

Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has been on a steady rise in the opinion polls as this month’s Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) now puts him at 39 percent. He is closely followed by United Democratic Alliance candidate, Deputy president William Ruto.

The poll release comes a day after Raila named Martha Karua as his running mate and two days after DP Ruto named Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.

Tifa points out that the release of the polls after the two popupar candidates named their running mates was to seek to know if there is an impact the two bring into the public opinion so far.

Odinga seemed to be indeed gaining a steady rise as November 2021 poll put him at 23 percent, February 2022 poll placed him at 27 percent, in April he was at 32 percent and now in May he is at 39 percent.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who bolted out of Azimio when he was not named the coalition’s presidential running mate and declared to run for president individually is trailing at 2 percent in the poll.

However, the poll still points that DP Ruto’s UDA party is the most popular at 29 percent followed by Orange Democratic Movement party at 25 percent.
