South African President Cyril Ranaphosa on Tuesday announced ban of take-away alcohol for four days until end of Weekend Easter Holiday in a bid to prevent a third wave of Covid-19 Infections.
As of now the country’s Covid-19 infections have stabilized at a rate of 1200 per day. South Africa remains the leading Country in Covid-19 infections in African Continent.
Ramaphosa has encouraged South African Citizen not to be complacent and added that the role of alcohol cannot be underestimated during the festive season.
“Given the role of alcohol in fuelling reckless behavior… the sale of alcohol for off-site consumption will be prohibited this coming Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday,” he said in a televised address as reported by AFP.
Usually in South Africa, holiday see a lot of travels as people visit the country side, make religious pilgrimages and go to various holiday destinations.
