Court proceedings in Counties locked down goes virtual to curb spread of Covid-19

Courts and tribunals in Machakos, Kajiado, Nakuru and Kiambu will be closed to prevent access by the public as part of containment measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the four counties that president Kenyatta Imposed partial lock down upon last Friday.

Any matter requiring hearing during this period will be done virtually as directed by Acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.

The Acting CJ also said that matters certified as urgent can be filled through the availed e-filling system accessible online, which will be available from 10.00 am to 4.00pm.

Acting CJ also directed that with duty roaster in place, only 30% of people will be in any judicial office at a given time.

She also encouraged judicial stuff to take Covid Vaccines.

“All of us are seriously encouraged to get vaccinated at the earliest possible moment,” she said.

On the other hand, the Public Service Commission is in the process of down scaling its operations to 50% capacity also in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the four zoned Covid-19 areas.
