A flat roof house may look fancy at a first glance given the originality that it brings – a unique difference that comes with it as compared to others.
But wait, It has several disadvantages that anyone planning to own a house should know.
One of such disadvantages is a short life span due to lack of proper drainage. When water is regularly clogged on the rooftop for a long time the roof cannot last for a longer time.
The fact that a lot of concrete will be used to build the house will make it more expensive. This is necessary to enable the house to maintain stability.
It has also been realized that flat-roofed houses absorb heat faster than other houses. This is the reason why during cold seasons these kinds of houses feel colder. These houses also lose heat very fast.
Constant repairs is a problem that will be caused by the fact that these houses have water clogged on their rooftop easily making them less durable.
Despite these disadvantages, it can be argued that flat-roofed houses have been there since the beginning of human civilization and a good architect would tell you that sufficient slopes and enough downpipes to get rainwater off the roof quickly is the key to making these kinds of houses durable and as attractive as the others.
