Waititu’s Billions that EACC seeks to re-take

In a case filled under certificate of urgency, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is in the process of acquiring back properties worth Ksh 1.9 Billion from Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his close family members.

The EACC claims that Waititu used public office against public interest and was involved in amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

“The commission pursuant to its investigations established that between January 2015 and July 2017 and August 2017 and January 2020… he amassed wealth to the tune of KSh 1,937,709,376.54 which is not commensurate to his known legitimate sources of income,” the EACC said in the case.

Waititu own houses in Lucky Summer, Runda, Migaa Estate, Runda Grove as well as tracks of lands Thindigua, Kayole and Embakasi. These are also some of the properties under scrutiny.

Several vehicles owned by the former Governor could also be repossessed.

Babayao who wanted to rejoin politics and become Kiambu governor once again, lost to Kimani Wamatangi in the primaries.
