There was a stand-still in Mwea town when the residents tried to stop official from county government from pulling down billboard bearing Ngirici’s image.
The stand-off started when workers from local advertising agency came to the town and pulled down two billboards with Ngirici’s portrait image and started replacing them with those of governor Ann Waiguru.
It was Andrew Ngirici the husband to the Women Representative, who tried to calm the situation, ordering the advertising agency workers to return his wife’s portrait images as she had the right to have them there.
Talking to the press, Andrew said that two other billboards that contained his wife’s portrait in Samson Corner were on Friday, October 8 pulled down.
The workers who were pulling down the billboards were arrested and taken to Police station but were later released.
Mwea East sub–County Commandant David Kitavi said that a meeting will be called so that the matter is settled between the warring parties.
Ngirici and Waiguru are set to face each other in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.
