Tana River Members of County Assembly (MCA’s) yesterday unanimously voted for the impeachment of their speaker Justin Mkaduda.
Mkaduda is being accused of abuse of office, misconduct and incompetent.
20 out of 23 members voted in support of the speaker’s impeachment motion.
The speaker is said to be treating MCA’s with contempt and insulting them. He even challenges them to physical fight at times.
Mr. Buya who moved the motion confirmed to members the “speaker has been unruly to the extend of engaging members to a physical fight whenever he is asked to account to issues affecting workers.”
He further said the speaker has been using his office to stall bills forwarded to the Assembly without the MCA’s knowing hence undermining several development plans in the County.
Tana River Chair of Education Committee Rhoda Katisha also recounted instances where the impeached speaker pitted members against each other and devided the house.
Impeached speaker Justin Nkaduda will appear before the ad hoc committee next Wednesday to answer to the allegations leveled against him as he awaits the confirmation of his impeachment.
