Sonko in trouble as DPP files an appeal against his acquittal

The director of public prosecutions has filed an appeal against the acquittal of ex-Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko from a 20 million shilling graft case.

The DPP has faulted the judgment by anti-corruption magistrate Douglas Ogoti that found the charge sheet to be defective saying that the magistrate relied on an old charge sheet.

The DPP Noordin Haji said ‘the court misdirected itself by relying on an old charge sheet’ and that the amended charge sheet was filed on the 7th of September 2020.
