A report by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu has shed light into a case where the ministry of education lost high end car days after being purchased back in 2019. The car’s value is estimated to be Ksh 8.3 million.
The car which is said to have been hijacked and has never been recovered.
In July 2020, the ministry of transport is said to have lost a car worth 6.5 million. The car, GKB 211J belonged to the Kenya Institute of Highways.

This trend leaves doubt on how much effort the government is putting to guard it’s assets.
These incidences come to light even after few months ago the courts sentenced a mechanic to death for stealing the president’s car. The car was stolen back in 2014 in utawala. The sentenced mechanic together with four others are said to have robbed the car at gun point from Chief Inspector of Police, David Machui.
