Moi University plans to lay off workers
Moi University has announced plans lay off worker in the midst of financial struggles it’s facing.
The vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey noted that staff salary has been taking a major part of the University’s income and so the need reduce the staff numbers.
“Over the years, the university wage bill has been increasing, currently taking up over 70 percent of the capitation from the exchequer,” the VC said.
As of last year, the university’s debt had reached Ksh 4.5 billion.
