National Assembly Budgets and Appropriation Committee disclosed that it plan stop finance a Ksh 304 Million safe house in Saudi Arabia to provide refuge amid high cases of mistreatments that Kenyan workers are going through in the gulf country.
COTU Secretary Boss Francis Atwoli while addressing the press also compelled the government to look into Labor Migration Bill to address the employment situation in the country.
“Poverty is everywhere. It is not just a concept but it is in the real sense and requires a lot of efforts by those in authority to make sure they put policies in place that can spur economic growth and create more employment,” Atwoli said.

Previously, Mr. Atwoli had demanded a ban in sending worker in the gulf noting that many Kenyans are brought back in the country in body bags and dropped at Jomo Kenyatta International airport on a daily basis.
In a bid to address the situation, talks between the Kenyan government and the Gulf States, The Qatar government banned over ten recruitment companies on grounds ad failing to adhere by set immigration rules.
