Kenya and Spain entangled in a 1.2 billion unpaid debt

Kenya and the kingdom of Spain are in bitter 1.2 billion debt which Kenya has been owing a Spanish company for the construction Ewaso Nyiro South Dam.

The Dam was constructed ten years ago by a Spanish company called TYPSA but has since never been paid.

The Spanish embassy have occasionally written to the relevant Kenyan Authorities including the treasury concerning the debt.

Kenya has also confirmed that the debt is genuine and needs to be paid up. The debt issue was heavily highlighted in the Kenya Spain joint business summit.
