Kenya airways subsidiary airline JamboJet launched direct flights to Goma connecting Nairobi to the Central African Republic country.
The airline made its first inaugural flight to Goma on Friday. It will be making two flights a week to the Congo’s Northern Provinces but plans are in place to increase the flight to four times a week.
Jambojet managing director, Karanja Ndegwa said the company is excited about the new prospects in the region.
“We are excited about the growth prospects in the region. We have an ambitious plan to develop our network, and we are proud to be the first low-cost airline to venture down this route,” He said in a speech during the occasion.

DRC’s North Kivu is said to have great economic and tourist potential and so the airline chose the destination as a step to link Nairobi and other cities in the Central African Country.
This comes as Kenya is in the process of tightening its trade with Democratic Republic of Congo With Kenya’s Equity bank of Kenya Commercial bank already in Operation there.
