Hamed Bakayoko, the Ivorian Prime minister succumbed to cancer while undergoing treatment in Germany on Wednesday, March 10th. Bakayoko’s demise was announced by the country’s president Alassane Ouattara who praised him as a great statesman.
“The prime minister served Ivory Coast with dedication and selflessness,” Said President Ouattara.
This marked the second time Ivory coast has lost a premier in office due to sickness. In July last year, the then prime minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly died of heart complications. Hamed was sworn in to replace the former premier.
The late Hamed Bakayoko was taken to Paris for treatment a month ago before being moved to Germany for more treatment.
