How to know if you have TB – signs and symptoms

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that most often affects the lungs. TB is caused by a type of bacteria. It spreads through the air when infected people cough, sneeze or spit.

Conditions that can increase someone’s risk of getting infected with TB include: diabetes (high blood sugar), weakened immune system (for example, HIV or AIDS), being malnourished and tobacco use.

Common Signs and symptoms include; prolonged cough (sometimes with blood), chest pain, weakness, fatigue, weight loss, fever, night sweats.

Its is is important to visits a doctor as soon as possible to ascertain these signs.
