Mulot Village in Bomet County has hit headlines as the hotbed for online scammers in the country, specifically mobile money fraud.
Data from The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Points that most online scammers came from Mulot villages; Mulot Central, Mulot Olomirani and Mulot Sunset.
The Government has therefore launched a 100 million software facility in Mulot, Bomet county, a flagship project of the Kenya National Digital Master plan. The facility is aimed to tap on the digital skills of youths in the area and act as a way of stemming out the bad name that the area has portrayed as a hotbed of mobile scammers.
The Facility will employ over 100,000 youth in software engineering.
Software facility also builds on the pillars of the Kenya Digital Economy Blueprint and the achievements of the Kenya National ICT Master Plan 2014 – 2017.
