Entrepreneurial youths from Homa Bay County undertaking agricultural project on insect production will benefit from 1.5 million Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) as a startup capital.
The Black Soldier Fly Insect which has over the years been neglected has since been identified as a cheap source of protein for both poultry and fish farming hence the need for it in high quantity.

Each group will receive ksh 100,000 as seed capital for production of the black soldier fly.
Mr Daniel Mathenge who is the YEDF Senior commercial infrastructure officer said the agency will engage Homa Bay youths in the production of the insect and later longing the same project in other counties.
