Kenyans are happy after a sign that high prices of basic commodities could reduce. This is after Finance committee shot down proposal by the tax man on taxes on some goods.
Among the commodities that the Finance Committee recommended to be reduced in price include maize flour, wheat flour, cassava and liquid petroleum gas. Some of these commodities are set to be reduced by half in parliament by Wednesday.

The treasury had planned to tax maize, wheat and cassava flours at 16% but the Committee, owing to the high cost of living proposed a zero tax.
A reduction in gas price will also be seen with a reduction of gas tax from 16% to 8%.
In the proposal, prices of Alcohol and Beauty products will remain the same.
