Government bans all political gatherings, curfew extended by 60 days.

President Kenyatta in his periodic address to the nation has outlined new measures to help in the containment of the spread of Covid 19.

The President said on Friday that all political gatherings regardless of their standings by their conveners are banned as well as other social and public gatherings. He said gatherings are major contributors to the spread of Covid 19.

“I direct national government administration officers and the National Police Service and county government enforcement officers to strictly enforce this order regardless of the social and political standing of the conveners,” Kenyatta said.

The president acknowledged the recent surge in affections in the country over the last few weeks, in what is believed to be the third wave of corona infections in Kenya.
