A report by FinAccess Household survey sponsored by the Central Bank of Kenya has pointed that elderly Kenyans gamble more than the younger generation. This goes contrary to the previous belief that the youth led the gambling games.
Betting being a huge industry reporting over ksh 200 billion annually now grips the elderly who have the same risk that the young may experience.
The government has made efforts to crackdown on gambling but the luring act has continued to persist.

It is shocking that majority of the elderly age 55 and above struggle financially yet they are the ones topping the betting list.
“Kenya Radio stations are notorious for running gambling shows that target the elderly in the countywide,” the survey noted.
