Busia becomes the 4th County to pass BBI Bill

On Tuesday Busia County assembly passed the Building Bridges Bill becoming the 4th county do so after Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay.

The MCAs passed unanimously passed the bill after subjecting it to public participation that took place between February 9th and February 12th in the seven constituencies of Matayos, Budalang’i, Butula, Funyula, Teso South, Nambale and Teso North.

The next step will be for the speake of the assembly to sendhe Bill to the Speakers of the National Assembly.

The BBI bill is at the moment open for public participation in Kakamega, Kisii and Nyamira Counties.

The acting speaker of Kisii county confirmed that the Bill was tabled in the house on Thursday last week.

“From Wednesday, there will be public hearings across the nine sub counties of Kisii County,” Said the deputy speaker.

Nyamira Speaker, Mr. Moffat Teya also confirmed that the bill is being subjected to public participation.

Latter in the day Trans-Nzoia County passed the BBI bill as well.
