Following a trending video online of Racial discrimination at Alchemist Bar situated in Westland, the Nairobi County government has cancelled the trading license of the bar pending investigation into the matter.
The directive was give by the sitting City Governor Ann Kananu.
Jacob Elkana, the Nairobi Governor’s Director of Communications said in-depth investigations are ongoing about the issue and a report will be submitted to the governor’s office within the next five days.
The video that surfaced online over the weekend showed a bouncer of the famed restaurant directing black customers out of line telling them to join the line of fellow blacks.
“This is racist, I swear!… So there’s a White people line and a Black people line?” one of the men in the video was heard saying.
The Alchemist bar managers apologized and requested the matter to be solved in a sitting with the grieved.
So far 10 persons have been arraigned in court as investigations continuous.
