Atwoli appointed spokesman For Luhya Community as general elections approach

A consultative meeting was convened on Sunday by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and other Luhya grass root leaders that saw COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli named spokesman for the whole Luhya Community ahead of the 2022 General elections.

Vihiga County Governor Wilbur Ottichilo told the press that as the country is heading for a political transition, Mr.Atwoli was the best positioned to negotiate on behalf of the Mulembe Nation.

“We, therefore, resolve that Dr. Francis Atwoli shall coordinate and help the community negotiate our stakes and be part of the next government,” Said Mr. Ottichilo.

The Group of leaders in the meeting agreed that the Luhya will speak in one voice ahead of the 2022 general elections that they will not tolerate leaders who will fail to cooperate with others in forming the next government.

“We have met here as a pro-handshake team to discuss the future for the community,” Atwoli Noted.

Other leaders in the meeting included; Christopher Khaemba from Trans Nzoia, Bungoma’s Wycliffe Wangamati, Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong’ , Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Kutima and 18 sitting Members of Parliament.

However, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi were missing in the meeting.
